An outstanding example of a Watcon turnkey project, this building has been refurbished by this division from top to bottom. inside and out. The exterior was stripped of its existing tiled finish, re- plastered and the whole building entirely repainted.

Watcon can tackle the most difficult of renovation requirements. The ceramic tiles were falling off the side of this multi-storey structure. Watcon installed a screen of shade netting to restrict the spread of dust and debris when the tiles were jack-hammered off and the wall was then cleaned, primed, re-plastered and painted to restore the good looks and watertight quality of this building. which had started to rapidly look the worse.

The exterior of this shopping complex, together with the complete exterior of the office block shown, was stripped and repainted by Watcon, who also carried out a complete refurbishment of the reception area and lift lobbies, including the provision of new ceilings, painting, wallpapering and tiling the floor. As can be seen by the: end result, this project gave a new lease of life to the entire area.

     

Waterproofing

With so many roof-lights. making the roof this large shopping centre watertight could have been a headache for a lesser contractor, but Watcon re-waterproofed every roof-light, sealed all the metal roof sheeting and fixings and painted the entire roof to provide an attractive appearance and a leak-proof lease of life for this building.

Waterproofing the roof of this large new office block in Centurion. Gauteng, needed considerable planning and expertise to cater for the effective sealing of all the equipment installed on it. No problem for Watcon. The new concrete substructure was primed, the waterproofing torched-on and a protective coat of bituminous aluminium paint applied to give it a professional and long-lasting appearance.

To provide the waterproofing and make them suitable for light foot traffic, the concrete substructures of the roofs and balconies of this attractive office block were screeded, primed, the waterproofing torched on. a further screed laid, and high-quality ceramic tiles installed to cater for the intended use.

The bricks and mortar joints on this office building were leaking and a specialist Watcon team was called in to effect the repair. This involved high pressure cleaning with a special machine; sealing of the mortar and the application of two coats of a water-repellent paint which effectively seals the bricks but is invisible once cured. Another major problem solved quickly and effectively by Watcon.

 
     

Interior Design

This project involved a floor-to-ceiling renovation by Watcon. including all the necessary stripping. making good and fixing of ceilings, wallpapering, floor tiles and painting, throughout the entire building. This reception area provides a perfect example of the quality of work produced by this division.

Another top-to-bottom turnkey refurbishment project by the Watcon Painting and Renovation Division. This one also involved the renovation of the lift: interiors and doors.
